About Us

Vertical Skills Adventure Activity Centre is run by Ben and Debbie Bryant, husband and wife team, working together providing extreme adventure activities in the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District National Park.

Our Activity Centre is in Ingleton, North Yorkshire, perfectly located for caving and canyoning activities, we meet most of our groups here, unless we are going further afield then we may meet you at the venue.

Debbie works in the office and is your first point of contact, she will book in your activity and make sure you have all the information you need to enjoy your day. Debbie is also available to answer any queries regarding payments or T&C's.

Ben will be taking you out on your chosen activity, he has worked in the outdoors for 15 years and also worked in Adventure Training during his 14 years in The Army. Ben is also Operations manager at Soldier Development wing, over-seeing adventure training for Army recruits and assists with Level Four Training at Ripon. In addition to Ben we have a small, hand picked team of highly qualified and experienced staff.

Ben holds A range of NGBs, CIC, Uk Canyon guide, Uk canyoning association Level 2 Guide. Level 4 Kayak coach, 5 Star WWL Kayak, 5 Star WWL Open Canoe, UKCC Level 3 Coach WW, SPA, ML Trg, IRF Raft Guide Trg, Rescue 3 White water safety and rescue Trained. First Aid Trained, Holds a DBS, Lyon equipment bolting course and a 4 day PPE course.

Who are Vertical Skills?

Vertical Skills is an established Activity Centre in Ingleton in the Yorkshire Dales, but we also provide Adventure Activties in the Lake District National Park. Ben Bryant is a highly qualified instructor who has worked in the industry for 13 years. Ben is supported by a small team of hand picked highly experienced staff who will make sure you have the most memorable experience.

At Vertical Skills we love to push the limits and take you out of your comfort zone. We pack in the fun and always go the extra mile to make sure you have the best time.

Vertical Skills are members of the UK Canyon Guide Association, Ben is a certified UK Canyon Guide Association Trainer, providing canyoning training courses. Ben is also a CIC and is a member of Association of caving instructors and British caving association and Vertical Skills also hold an Adventure Activities license. We are an approved provider for the MOD.

Where can you find us?

We are so lucky to be located right in the centre of the action.

Our Activity Centre is located in Yorkshire our premises is a warm. and welcoming base where you can come to meet us, get kitted out, use the loo and after the activity you can come back to get changed and have a warm drink or even a nice cold beer. Its the perfect spot for easy access to the huge number of caves in the area. We also have a number of great Canyons, Climbing and Abseil venues on our door step in the Dales. But because we love Canyoning so much, we often go into the Lake District where some of the more technical canyons are located. If you chose activities further afield from our base, we can just meet you there.

We import our wetsuits from Spain to make sure you stay warm and comfortable even in colder times of the year and believe us the import tax post Brexit is no laughing matter. When you book with us, you wont find your self putting on smelly; damaged or ill fitting wetsuits.
